Steering gears
I have a 75 F-100 that has powersteering but the seals on the gear box are shot it leaks like crazy. I have a 73 F-100 parts truck that has manual steering and i was going to put the manual gear on my truck till i can afford a new powersteering gear or have time to rebuild it. But shaft coming out of the steering column that links to the gear on my truck is about 3" shorter the the shaft on the 73, will they not interchange? What do I need to do to make this work?

sounds like you might need to change out the column for now as well......i just replaced the steering box in my 76 F-150, picked one up in salvage for $75, scrubbed it clean and painted it black, put it a new rag joint($8) ,new drag links and tie rods, now it steers like a dream.....when the seals went out on the original i bought the seal kit, after reading how to do it i opted out and bought the other one...just seemed easier and i had the extra cash on hand....
