Hey Fte,
I Have A 04 Expy Eb. I Have Had It To The Dealer Three Times For This Problem. Three To Four Times A Week It Will Not Start I Have To Crank It Two Sometimes Three Times Before It Will Fire Off. The Motor Turns Over Just Fine But No Start. The Dealer Tells Me That There Is No Code And That It Is Starting Fine. Fine My Butt. And They Also Tell Me That It Might Be A Fuel Pump Or The Fuel Filter, But That They Cant Start Throwing Parts At It Because All The Parts They Take Off Have To Go Back To Ford, And If The Part Is Not Bad They Do Not Get Credit For It. What Is Going On ???
Thanks, Lee
I had a Chevy P/U newer model before my Expy now. I sware it was in the shop more than I had it! Basically, just wouldn't start whenever it decided to! I lucked out in the whole 2 months I had it and never got stuck out in the woods or nothing, just usually around town. Anyway, they did determine that the computer got jumbled from time to time and the truck thought it was stolen so it would shut the injectors down. They replaced everything and it never did fix it. I gave it back and a year later bought my expy. Now, I have no idea if Ford does that same type of protection but it sucked.
My 2 cents worth!

hey man, our expy keeps dieing, just plain shuts down, will only restart after shutting the key off, and then will fire up. took it to the dealer, they said the instrument cluster was bad, also said it will take 3-4 weeks to get one because there are many others going out and demand is high, not sure if yours is similiar or not ours is a 2000, might be worth asking about anyway, best of luck, and kinda aggravated myself, seems that a vehicle that expensive would last more than 5 years.....
My 03 does the same thing..cranks like crazy then fires after 5-7 seconds. This doesnt sound like a long time....unless it your starter. Dealer redid the computer,no difference. Other owners have reported the same problem and until someone figures this out we will just keep on grinding .
