ok here's the deal. i have an 05 lifted 8 inches. when i put it in 4 wheel drive i get a grinding noise from the front. took it to 2 dealers both said it is because of the lift. they said it is excessive torque on the front drive shaft u joints caused by excessive angle. did anyone have this problem and how did you fix it. please help. one dealer told me to install a transfer case dropdown kit. anyone heard of this or done this and where could i get one.

Are the u-joints or CV on the front shaft binding?
I know what you are talking about regarding the transfer case. Attitude Performance sells a transfer case reindexing ring....and they are redesigning their new crossmember for it, I was told they should have it soon. Give Matt over at Attitude Performance (www.attitudeperformance.com) a call on Monday.
Block your tires so the truck won't roll any where.Put the truck in 4 wheel drive and then put the truck in neutral.Lay underneath the truck and rotate the front shaft, look at each of the ujoints one on the axle and the others on the transfer case, are they making any contact when you spin the shaft? If they are take a die grinder to the area where it is making contact and Clearance the area.
