Wondering why I still don't have nice bright lights in my dash...
Here's what I have done so far:
Installed a new headlight switch, all new dash light bulbs, cleaning ALL of the contacts on the circuit board (both around the light bulb-holders themselves and the main plug-in to the cluster), cleaned contacts to the bulb-holders, checked continuity to all of the bulbs and circuits surrounding the bulb-holders, checked all of the grounds. Rheostat on light switch is turned "all the way" up. Everything A-Ok.
I despite all of this, I am only getting the far left bulb (in the cluster) and the far right bulb to light up. No voltage to the inner bulbs.
Hmm, i'm no expert, but i think it has to be that dang printed circuit. (not much else it could be) I have the exact opposite problem, my outer lights dont work.
Hi Guys,
i had the same problem with my circuit board in my 77-f-150. mine was out of shape and no matter how clean i got it, only two lights would come on. so i took the tailight assembly out of a 84 t-bird and replaced all of the dash lights, fitting them in snugly where the turn ins used to be. they fit pretty good so i hooked them up to the light switch, and now the dash lights up as new.i also put two more under the dash, for extra lighting.they havent failed me now for 6 months. its really nice now to see all of the dash panel in the darkness. i also put a universal turn signal switch on it, and got rid of the , sometimes it works, and sometimes it dont problem. so far so good.
The voltage regulator has nothing to do with the lights. It is used to regulate the gages only. Use the meter to check all of the traces to the lights. Also check the traces from the bulbs to ground.
I was wondering if someone made new boards also? Someone got into the lights on my '76 and decided to solder all the bulb connections and melted half the board. It's a wonder it still works.
