If it's a Ford engine there is no liimt, anything Ford built will fit. Even the V10 and Power Stroke.
Other than Ford power which is a sin by the way, you are only limited to as much sinful behavoir God will allow before he strikes you down with Lightning.
before you have to do some major fab work? probably a 460, and even then your gonna have to do some fab.
the largest factory engine offered in the big broncos was the 351 i think
The largest factory engine ever dropped into the full-size Bronco was the 400. 1978-79 models had this as a factory option over the 351M. The 460 conversion is popular and has been done many times. The PSD and V10 are too heavy for the 1/2ton Bronco suspension. You would need to rework the suspension to hold it up. There has also been some concern expressed that the frame may not handle the additional torque of the PSD without some major improvements throughout.
Chuck took a '93 F250 460 cid 4x4 E4OD (a year older than my F250) and basically jacked up his '95 Bronco and slid the 460, TTB (HD), E4OD, and full floater rear end under the frame. The major modification was to the driveshafts. He had some minor fabrication to do but it looks factory. The Bronco frame is very stout. It is a box frame in the front, just like my F250 HD and we installed the very same steering stabilizer in it as on my truck. he has 3.55 limited slip front/rear and a super utility truck to use. He went with 305/75 R16's on 10" wagon wheels painted to match the all midnight blue Bronco and monochromed everything else. He's going inside next as he inherited my old Alpine system basics when I upgraded the noisebox in the F250.

I wonder if anyone ever attempted, or did a conversion to either the V10, or the Cadillac 472/500 CID engines. Not very common, but I know that some people put Caddy engines into some older Ford trucks.
