Obtaining Diagnostic Codes on EECIV '86 4.9L
Can someone please explain the routine for pulling computer diagnostic codes from the EEC IV computer in my F150 4.9L, CHEAPLY!
Do I really need a STAR or SuperSTAR tool?

All you need is a jumper wire and a test light or voltmeter.

Thank You! One more thing, I did locate the large and small diagnostic connector on the left fender. Inside the harness are two other cables (with on wire per connector) laying unconnected. Are these for an option that isn't installed? Come to think of it there are a boatload of loose inline connectors in the engine area! haha.
