First real drive!
First real drive other than around the block.
I figure the commute to work and back will help with the break-in.
So far it runs well.
I get a little lifter noise on #8 cylinder. Replaced exhaust pushrod with a 60 over and still makes some noise.
I think I will be replacing the rocker shaft. it has a little wear in that end.
The motor specs are
flat top forged pistons
Crane 901 cam
Edelbrock performer intake with Holley 600 Vacuum secondaries.
Headers with 2 1/2 dual exhaust
Pertronix ignition
I am running a C-6, 3.73 gears and have 245/75/16 tires on it now but have a set of 235/85/16 tires that will be going on there soon.
The truck will be seeing most of it's life as a daily drive and to tow my Jeep and maybe a few other things so I was looking to keep the hp/torque range on the lower side to help pull the grades.
They even spin up a little on the freeway.
That is why I am going to try out the taller tires on it.
I want to put a tach in the truck to see where I am running the motor.
I am getting a little pinging when the motor lugs in 3rd so I have to retard the timing a little.
I think the motor should have close to 10 to 1 compression with the pistons I installed so pinging under load may be an issue while running on regular gas.
You might have to get your distributor recurved, or just put heavier advance springs in it.
