86 F150 startup problem..

86 F150 startup problem..
I have an 86 F150 with the 300 six. The problem I'm having is when I start the truck it has to warm up for about 5 minutes before I have any power. Once its warmed up you can feel the power kick in. Does anybody have any suggestions. By the way I just put a brand new carb on it to try and fix the problem.
