I just bought a 95 F150 5.0 4x4. I want to change the filter and tranny fluid, but I am not up to date on my newer truck model transmissions. If its not a c6 or a c4, I dont know anything about it. do you know where I can go to look at bolt or pan patterns to see what I have? or will it be in my vin# somewhere? any help will be greatly appreciated.
First I guess....is it auto or manual? Auto flavors....AODE is a 14 bolt pattern. E4OD is a 20 bolt pattern. There is a transmission identification letter on the vehicle door information panel. I believe "U " is for the AODE and "E" is for the E4OD. If it is a manual, I'm not as familiar with the versions.
thanks, it has the OD off button, so that would make it the E4OD, and I was just saying, I dont know anything about transmissions other than the C4 and C6. Thanks alot.
Not necessarily. I have an OD off button and have the AODE (E for electronic). It is an electronically controlled version of the older AOD transmission. The only way to be sure is to count the bolts or check the door placard. This same transmission (known as the 4R70W) was used in some Ford and Lincoln cars with high output engines as well as trucks.
