Straight pipes from headers

I have a couple of guys trying to talk me into running straight pipes and glasspacks from headers. I have a 77-250 with 351 bored out to 401. What kind of problems am I looking at?

You shouldn't have any problems, my 79 F-150 with a 400 has headers, and pipes that dump behind the cab, not cats or even glasspacks. It runs like a dream, just a little loud for any passengers who want to roll down the window.

I wish I could get away with that,
But then again out her in California they're a little more strict about the noise level. Bad enough that I get sideways looks as I pass certain individuals in Caprices at intersections.
Oh Well,
