I just put back together the interior in my 77 f250 4x4. The boot around the transfer case seems small, There are four holes in the transmission hump to accept screws however no part of the boot reaches. Was there a trim ring that holds this boot in place or have I got one that doesnt really belong. There are no manufactures markings on either one of the boots. Been searching for a picture but can't find one clear enough of the hump. No loss though I've seen many great trucks in the galleries and pictorials.
Thanks in advance.
the boot screws into the trans hump by a bracket or ring that goes around it. the ring is under the carpet on these trucks. it should have 4 or 6 screws and to replace the boot you have to pull the carpet. hope this helps you.

On my 78, there's a ring built into the boot at the base. It's metal but encased in the rubber boot itself. It has 4 holes and bends down the side of the hump.
your welcome. the boot is $37.53 from National Parts Depot. Item number F-7277-2. they want some dough for it new. You should be able to pick one up at the yard for $5-10 at most.
