DRLs

I have a 2003 SD Lariat an I am interested in installing Daytime running lights. I would like them to work with my automatic lighting that came from the factory.

Has anyone done this? Does anyone know who offers this?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You could try the stealership i believe it is just a relay...however if you have the autolamps feature you could use a sharpie or black nail polish and paint the sensor in the center of the dash which would trick it into thinking it is dark and the autolamps would kick in just my .02

I went down this avenue. DO NOT BUY THE KIT FROM THE DEALER!!! Memory has it the relay was not that expensive. It was the $495.00 wiring harness that did me in. And just wait 'till you check on the installation charge. But there is a very inexpensive solution. I ordered the DLR kit from JC Whitney and after about 30 minutes under the hood, DLR was alive and well. It is a true kit that drops the headlight voltage to 9 volts until the parking lights are turned on. Then the lights go out until you turn on the headlights. They are also turned off when you flash the highbeams with the headlights turned off. My kit lasted 6 years with no problems. I even put one on our '03 Expedition (although the first one shorted out, JC Whitney shipped me one that night and I was back in business within a week). I purchased another for our '05 PSD KR CC and will install it this weekend. The kit is $25.99 and the JC Whitney part # is SL135227R. There are two kits available, but I don't recommend the other unit as it will run your lights at full power, consuming lots of juice, and burning out the bulbs prematurey. Good Luck.

If you have the lariat pkg. w/ automatic headlights, just cover the sensor that tells the truck when to turn on the lights. When the sensor doesn't get enough light, you've "fooled" the sensor into thinking it's dark. Leave the headlight switch in the auto position (all the way to the left) and whenever you start the truck, the lights will come on automatically. The sensor is the translucent little dome located on the dash, near the defroster vents at the center of the windshield.

Keep in mind covering the sensor will run all your lights at full current. This will stress the alternator resulting in the need for replacement more often than you want. Also, you will go thru more bulbs as they are constantly on at full strength.

Why not just use the fog lights or low beams during the day?
