transmission problems?

I have a mazda b-4000, v-6, automatic, and roughly 110,000 miles. If I start up the truck when it's cold I cannot move till I rev up the engine and with a little sqeal of the tires it starts moving, after the first quarter mile or so I'm fine till the next time I have to start up cold, am I heading for huge problems or is there a quick, easy, cheap fix

Sounds like the tranny might be on the way out or the valve body gasket is leaking. What year is the truck? What maintanence have you done for the tranny?

i've done no maintanence on the truck, it's a 96, i've checked the fluid level repeatedly and i've noticed no leakage

Flushing the fluid and replacing the filter might help or might hurt at this point, it really should have been done about every 30-40k miles. At this point dropping the pan to look at the valve body gasket would answer that question and replaces only about 1/2 the fluid. You'll also get a new filter in there and find out if there's anything bad in the pan.
