Camper package Q's

Howdy,

I just got my XL 02 F-350 diesel crew cab long bed. I heard this guy saying how stiff the ride on his truck was cause he has the camper package, well i bought mine used W/56,000 miles so i didnt choose a camper package because it was the only used one on the lot. How do i find out if mine has a camper package or not. If it does what are they designed for towing a 5th wheel or a drop in?

mostly for a drop in, look at the rear springs, if it has overload springs (an extra spring on top the other leaves with a bracket above each end that the spring would contact on compression) then you have it.

Lots of Super Dutys have overloads, the differnce is if your truck has a rear sway bar, I think the rear sway bar only comes in the camper package, I can tell a differnce with the sway bar, really does help out a tad with the side to side motion... Springs are all the same, ride is all the same, even from the 250's to the 350's, they use the same leaf springs, just taller blocks on the 350's (2in. vs 4in. blocks) no big deal.

I ordered my 2004 F250 with camper package because I wanted overloads and rear sway bar for the towing that I do. I do not think the ride is that bad, but I run all 4 tires at 50 psig when truck is not loaded. Running tires at 80 psig when not needed will cause a stiff ride. Philip.

What tires do you have that will take 80psi? I thought I was doing good with being able to air my E rated Nitto's to 65psi....

Tires are stock 235/85R16 E. Ford door jamb says 65 psig front 80 psig rear. I used Goodyear chart, axle weights, and chalk mark to justify 50 psig no load setting. I do not know what size your Nitto's are, but 65 psig is typically the maximum pressure for a D load range tire, you may want to double check. Philip.

I don't think that is posible, although I am not calling you a lier, that is really the only reason to get the camper pack. the overloads come on a lot of the trucks, with or without the camper pack.

My 2001 F350 with Camper Package came with the rear antisway bar. That was the main reason I ordered it with that package.
