Got home after school and started cutting the cat around 2:40. I was completely done at 4:10!! lol, I used a hacksaw, but man, the sound is worth it. When I cut the first pipe (coming from the other cat) I went and turned on the truck....Phew, loved it. Man, I thought the cat was a light bugger...Nope, it weighs in a couple pounds. Anyways, right now I just have a gap from the first cat to the rest of exhaust. Need to weld a pipe soon...
Anyways, it sounds GREAT. Nice, Low, Rumbly, with lots of volume. That cat does hold a LOT of sound in. Can't wait to goto school tomorrow to show off...lol . Oh, and the smell didn't change on my truck. It doesn't stink. Yay.
LOL I too used a hacksaw... took me a good 10-15 minutes to saw it off.
My little brother was helping me at the time and when we first fired it up we had huge grins on our faces... my truck smelled for a while then I changed out my O2 sensor and its not even bad anymore.
Yea.. I still have that big grin on my face lol... 10-15 minutes is quick... The thing that got in the way was that big frame rail, other than that, it's a fast, smooth cut.
Today I hooked up the rest of my exhaust. It's a single pipe exhaust with a small 12" glasspack and side exits before passenger tire. The glasspack really quieted that deep rumble down ....lol, i miss the sound. Hopefully, that glasspack burns out soon .
Do you have any pics off your exhaust. Never thought probaly not much to see. Wish I was there to here it. How does it compare to everybody elses. Lots of revvin goin on today.
No pics yet. I'll get a load of pics saturday, since I work right after school tomorrow.
Compared to others, it is now mild. Before hooking the glasspack back up, it was up there with the those 350 exhausts..lol and mine's a 302. I'm gonna do lots of revving to burn out that glasspack fast! LOL
Sounds like the majority off trucks at your school are loud. Anybody at your school run straight pipes? Now its time for some 4 inch chrome tips comin out the sides that would look mean. Youd have the looks and the sound. You could cruise around with authority. Lets add some flames comin out at night. I am gettin carried away here. Oh how about a hood scoop with flames. One thing at a time.
Straight pipes, straight headers , glasspacks, flowmasters, flowtechs, etc....You name it, someone's running it. Got a couple of trucks with hood scoops. Everyone seems to dump their cats, lol. The loudest truck in my opinion, is a lifted dodge. Man that is one LOUD, mean sounding thing. Oh and then there's the striaght piped diesels....sound like damn semi's.
No quiet exhaust at all.. Everybody likes loud pipes. It must be something wheneverybody shows off at the same time. Be like a nascar race. Looks like youll fit right in now.
Excellent, thats a job for me to try on the farm soon. Cant wait to cut that ol thing off. Thanks allot for letting us(me) know how it sounds!!! I should be posting soon with my results!
Just prepare for that big smile when you first start her up..... And also, some alarms starting to chirp with that lowe rumbly idle or going off when you throttle.... Man, I really need to burn out this glasspack so I can get that sound back....!!!
I heard the quickest way to burn out a glasspack is to go for a long ride (heat it up) and hit it on the outside/inside with a waterhose to bust up the packing. I'd be a little leary about running a hose up the pipes especially that close to the engine... its worth a try to hit it on the outside though.
My SI/DO Flowmaster 40 is both louder and deeper than my 3" Dynomax Race Bullet...
Yea, the ol' waterhose the hot glasspack...lol. I'm not scared for it to get even close to the engine...It's a long way on my exuast. Also, it'd be kinda hard for the water to get through the cat and then go up the y-pipe . My exhaust is getting louder every day, but Im just gonna burnout that dang glasspack...lol
