I have the 1406 600 Edelbrock on my 400. Runs well at all ranges and idles well. I have 2 problems though. When I punch it hard there is the flat spot for about a second and then it takes off good. I have the pump arm set for max shot while that improved it it is still there. The other thing is that everytime I check the plugs they are a light gray. That concerns me cause I don't want to get too lean. Should I try the next smaller rod in the primaries?
hey guys i have this same carb mine likes to kinda loads up when your in to it in the upper mid rang. Only does it on some days thought. I was thinking it was just my motor kind wore out and has it's days or a timing problem.
You could try smaller metering rod. I would also verify that the vacuum advance is properly working. You do have it hooked up the the front port on the passengerside I hope.
I have the 750 on my 390, after I got it tuned, it works great, from a dead stop I can stomp the pedal and it automaticly lites the rear tires, no stumble or anything, just pure excitment.... Will never go back to a Holley!!!

Try changing your springs. Play around with different combos. I had the same problem on my 72 Pontiac and I went with the blue springs.
changing the springs will affect when it switches from cruise to power mode. I stayed with the stock setting. The heavier spring makes it go into power mode easier, which makes it hard to get decent mileage.
I put in the blue springs and the next smaller metering rod and it did not seem to run as well. Still has the hesitation but also seems a little rough coming out of the hesitation. Could'nt drive it too much though, the weather around here stinks right now. I'll try to evaluate it more over the weekend.
I pulled this 3310-s [750] out of the box out put it on a 351m and it runs fine, when the mostier is down. That is the good thing about Eld. they are more forgiving. but need more tuning. Keep trying you get there.
Advance the timing 1-2 degrees. If it rattles then you went too far. If you don't get a little rattle then you can keep going up till you do. If you haven't replaced the stock vacuum advance can, the you will either have to adjust it or replace it with adjustable if you took off the egr stuff. The stocker advances too much and rattles, but the static timing is too retarded. This can make you have the very problem that you are having.( I know this cause I had to do it to my 400 to get rid of the stumble).
