Wraps on winch

Wraps on winch

How many wraps of cable should be left on the spool of my 8000lb warn when peeling all the cable out. I've got a PSD superduty and I had the winch left over from my old truck so on it went but it is small for the truck, so I'll be using the ****** block to double up and get deeper on the spool but how much should be left on 3-4 wraps? Thanks for any info.

I think mine recommends something like that... 4-6 wraps should be ok.

never go less than 3 wraps with a load on it. keep in mind though the more wraps on the drum the less chance there is of slippage
