Day Time Head lights
Daytime running lamps (DRL) (if equipped)
Turns the headlamps on with a reduced output.
To activate:
• the ignition must be in the ON position and
• the headlamp control is in the OFF, parking lamp or autolamp
position.
I would assume that if either of the bullets above is not true, then the DRL would be off?
On my Canadian 2002, this doesn't work, so, depending on the year (phase of the moon, or other factors), this is not necessarily true...
There are a couple of mods out there, however. One is to disconnect the wire going to the "caged" resistor behind the driver's side headlight. This will disable the DRL's completely until plugged back in. Another involves wiring a switch into the DRL circuit, which you can then turn off/on at will. I haven't tried this yet (it's on my list for warmer weather activities), and have a paper copy of the schematic, but can't find the link, or the electronic version. I'll look around though. Maybe another member has a better memory than I, and will post.
