carb swap
I have an 85 f-150 with a 302 automatic and I would like to be able to replace the carb and remove all the smog stuff. can I just put an aftermarket carb (which kind?) on the stock manifold and have it work? I'm going for the simple look that I see on older vehicles and street rods etc. the truck is just used around the property and is a real beater so I don't want to spend a lot of money. The reason I want to do this is the truck has a cold weather stalling problem that no one has been able to solve. thanks

It may be easier and cheaper to fix the choke and make sure the original aircleaner is pulling warm air up from the exhaust manifold. An aftermarket carb can give you the exact same problems unless you have a working factory aircleaner.
