So I would like to install blinkers on my truck and I dont know where to start on this. I am new to the truck scene and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Your truck came standard with blinkers. There is a stick coming out the left side of the steering column. It moves a switch that has three positions. If you push the stick up as far as it will go you have activated the right blinker. Come down a notch and everything is off. Push the stick down and you have a left blinker. Most vehicles used this method in the 20th century. I assumed that they still did use something similar. I wouldnt know I refuse to deal with modern junk. Man I feel OLD if blinkers have changed and I am still pushing the stick. I bet it is a cyber link to your brain now. Thats got to be it man! You just think about a left turn on Chilton ST and BAM its done. Blinker blinks, wheel turns, driver has more free time to talk on the phone. Man what have I missed. All this time my dumb but has been DRIVING! What a hassle. Geez!
Excuse me for not clarifying. I have a LMC Truck Part Catalog that has a 12 volt turn signal flasher and a turn signal switch but as far as wiring and other potentiasl parts, I dont know where to look. If you could help me out it would be great. Thanks
I didnt think they made any trucks without "blinkers" or turn signals after sometime in the fifties. It is a bit unclear what you are trying to do. All I can make out is the fact that you are looking for all the parts necessary to install a signal light system. The question still is why? There should already be a system there. Fill us in if you will on exactly what you are doing. Are you adding a system to a truck that never had one or are you trying to bring an old system back to life? Either way someone here should be able to help you out.
If you are adding a system you could locate one of those old clamp on chrome signal light switches. I think somebody still makes them and all you have to do is clamp it to your steering column and run your wires to the four corners and change your sockets to operate dual element bulbs. Shouldnt be to bad of a job. I dont want to go on and on with theories until we find out exactly what you wish to accomplish. Hope we can help!
OKAY! I just bought an unmolested 66 and it does not have 4 way flashers. Turn signals and a blank cover where the 4 way should be. If this is your situation I recommend we collaborate since I also want the have 4 way "blinkers". I dont like aftermarket add on Turn signals. OEM TS switches are available new from Dennis Carpenter and the short wiring harness for the 4 way setup are a junk yard part. I'll be adding this harness and switch to my shopping list for my next trip to Pull-A-Part.
