I've got an 90 areostar with a 3.0 and 4 speed auto tranny just got this van to try and fix and sell when i got it it was flooded real bad got that fixed but now no matter what gear it is in it wants to go forward even in park you can tell it is wanting to go forward even does this if you undo the shift cable and shift it by the tranny the reverse lights work when you put it in reverse but it just wants to go forward.also does this in nutral, any suggestions?

 

I had that problem with my Aerostar ('91) with it not wanting to engage in reverse. After that problem, it would not shift gears right and 2nd was the highest gear it would shift to. The transmission is kaput, shot. It needs to be rebuilt. I had mine rebuilt and it runs fine. Knock on wood.
