Hi! I have a 2003 F150 and last weekend had a subwoofer and amp installed. When I picked it up my air bag like was flashing. The guy checked everything out and made sure it was all plugged in. It looks like a code 17. Does anyone know what it is and how I can get rid of it? I hooked it up to a diagnostic but nothing came up and I really do not want to take it back to the dealership so I can pay a million dollars for them just to turn it off.
Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts! If you have a minute check out the Guidelines, it will help you to navigate through and understand FTE. Stick around someone will be by shortly...to answer your question.
Enjoy FTE ….. We are pleased you have chosen the best source for Fords!
See you on the boards.
I wish I could give you an answer, If I attempted, every time you turned to the left your lights would flash the speakers would shock all passengers and the drivers window would go up and down until it wore out....I suck at electrical problems....and it sure sounds like you got a weird one....that much I do know.
Hang in there someone will be by..
Where did you get the equipment installed? They shouldn't have gone anywhere near the airbags just to install an amp and sub. It may just be a coincidence that the airbag light its now on. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 15-20 min. ? Try that and see if the light still comes back on.
I did try disconnecting my battery but it was only for like five mins or so because I was in a hurry. The guy at the place said that when he removed the face it may have loosened the passenger side connector but he double checked it to make sure. I will try disconnecting the battery for a longer period of time. If that doesn't I will be back....Thank you!
Oh yea, I forgot about the airbag switch in the center of the dash. If they pulled the trim bezel around the radio too hard or let it hang by the airbag keyswitch wires they may have damaged the wiring to the airbag switch. I've pulled off the trim lots of times when I'm messing with the radio, but I'm always carefull with that airbag switch.
