So auto-loc hubs,1 button 4X4 1 button lo-range?, I would believe it's computer controlled. You where off road. I would check wires going to the transfer case for damage, also the hubs...

I was under it the other nite too, seems all ok. I'll have more time tonite and tomorrow nite to look at it.

certain conditions have to be met before the TC will shift, otherwise the lights will flash. Check your owners manual for the proper conditions for shifting. You didn't mention knowledge of this or whether the 4wd has functioned properly before so, just stating the obvious.

I had the exact same problem last week. After it sat for the night it was fine. I think it may be one of two things. Either the auto-hubs, or the electric switch. If we ever get some decent weather I"m gonna pull the electric motor from the tcase and clean up the connections, from what I've read this is a very common problem.

this is the first time it has failed on me. I've been out a few times and it worked fine. good thought furball. I do need to check the manual.

I found a good article on how to clean it. so that may be my evening project tomorrow nite.

You could check your fuses, for my 99 its fuse number 26, type fuse is 10, you could pull it and try and replace it, that might work.

already checked the fuses, all are good.

I played with the switch last night and was able to get it in 4hi and 4lo.

the tcase made a nice loud clunk as it switched in. (it's always been loud)

Search for previous posts related to this under my user name. I had the same problem. Replaced the T-case motor and it still didn't work. Finally reset the GEM and it's worked great ever since.
