Four wheel drive problem 1997 Expy
My four wheel drive doesn't engage on demand when selected with the dash board switch. It takes a couple of minutes of driving to engage. Sometimes I'll back up then go forward couple of times then it will engage. Had a new vaccum unit installed on the front axle about 4 months ago and it seemed to work fine at that time. Now needing the 4X4 with the snow it doesn't engage when I need it the most (before I get stuck). I did notice the AWD light flash on one occasion while it was in 4 wheel drive. Wonder if it is cold weather related. I also replaced the battery about a week ago, electrical like in resetting the computer a possibility. Any help would be appreciated.

Could be a number of things but I would check your transfer case shift motor as these go out on a regular basis. You may want to first double check your vacuum lines and make sure they are on tight seeing as this was worked on fairly recently.
