My Diablo scanner shows a PO475 code which is the exhaust pressure control valve. Is this for the valve itself or the sensor/control solinoid? My truck runs fine when the needle is just above the cold mark on my gauge but when I try and go when its cold it goes through first gear ok but it shuts the truck down after that. It starts to slow down no acelleration. I want to make sure this is right before I purchase a part that I may not need. Like I say once it is warm it runs like a champ. I have been having to plug it in even on a 40 degree night just to be able to run in the morning with out any stalling problems.
Has anybody gone through this? Any help would be appreciated.
Hello, my 1996 f250 power stroke, has the Code PO475 (I got this info from my Snap On MT2500 Scanner). I went to my local Ford dealer and they could not find what exhaust pressure control valve is or what it would be in Ford terms. Did you have any luck? Thank you for your time. M813A1WWWE

Thanks again!!
P0475 usually points to the EBPV solinoid, PCM or wiring problem between PCM and solinoid. P0476 could be the EBPV sensor or any of the above. Have you tried disconnecting the solinoid to see if your power problem goes away?

They may know it buy EPR - Exhaust Back Pressure Regulator.
I recommend you unplug it unless you live where it gets well below zero and you let it idle a lot. No power loss that way. The engine takes a few more minutes to warm up.
