coil spacer vs. torsion bars

Correct me if I'm wrong, but leveling out the new F150 with a coil-spring spacer is the same as cranking the torsion bars on the old F150.

I'm asking this because I'm having a hard time not levling out my truck but am battling it out with the fact I plan on buying the ESP for 6/100k as soon as I get home. I've had a very shaky past (previously was a GM guy) but had trucks which I cranked the t-bars w/no ill effect on suspension.
