Question Floating Valves?

Hello I have got a 1981 Ford 302 I have got the 1986 high compresion heads on it. I put a 268 duration comp cam in and it has got .428 Valve lift. I put new everyting in but pushrods, vaves, and springs. It drives around great unless I get to 5200 RPM's in any gear, then it just loses power. It doesn't accellerate anymore. Doen't matter in I let up on the gas or not at that RPM it is done. It does have points, and a new distributor. I think the valves are floating other than that I have heard that is as far as the cam will let me go, but the specs. say 1500-5500. For best performance. I don't hear any noise either just he sputtering sounds like through the pipes and the carb. I think can't tell if through the carb.

New:
True roller timing chan and gears.
Oil pump
Pistons
Crankshaft
Bearings
Cam & Lifters
I lapped the valves.
Block Bored .030 and Dipped.

Thanks Alot. Knowone can figure it out not even the locals.

Question Floating Valves?

I have a 1981 Ford mustang 302 just rebuilt. Wondering if the valves are floating. I put a set of 1986 heads on cause they are high compresion ones.
I have a comp cam 268 duration .428 lift and a 1500-5500 RPM operating range. I did not change the valve springs. They are stock and have no clue how many miles are on them. When I am driving and I get to 5200 Rpms in any gear it starts sputtering through the exuagst and the carb I think. Doesn't matter if 1/4, 1/2, or Full throttle at 5200 Rpms. It still does it, and has no power won't even keep accelerating. I also have a new points Distrbutor in it. The eninge is in my 1987 Mazda B-2600 Thanks for any info.

Stronger valve springs will help valve float, but they're hard on lifters/cam lobes; what does Comp Cams recommend for your cam? You could also be at the limit of the points' rubbing block to follow the distributor lobes.

Distributor points

Hello its me. The engine before I rebuilt it had the same distrbutor in it and it never did it then. So I had ruled that out of the question. Thanks I will look at comp cams recemendations.
