I used to get sinus infections that would last months, even with medication. I became a pool man and I haven't been sick of any kind (minus food poisoning) since. My theory is that I inhale so much chlorine dust during the day that it's not possible for bacteria to take a foothold in my airways. Another possibility is that I'm exposed to so much bacteria and other pathogens that I've built up an immunity.

I got a sinus infection a few weeks ago, but I only get them once every couple years. It got pretty bad and I couldn't breath thru my nose, only thru my mouth and that was tearing up my throat. I got a 5 ml syringe (no needle!) and shot warm water up one nostril then the other. It stings for a sec but then you can blow all that junk out. I did that a few times at night for 4 days and along with the antibotics, finally got rid of it.

My father broke his nose and never knew it. It caused him a lot of problems until he got it fixed.

P.S. wing of bat is hard to get now, but scale of dragon works much better.

scionti 94,

Learning of your central Florida location you can throw out the humidifier suggestion. Your description of location, exposure to the outdoors, is as you stated suggestive of possible allergies. My advice would still be to start with an ENT, physical exam, eliminate narrowed or blocked drainage. They might refer you to an allergist if appropriate. You are an intelligent, articulate individual, gather information, ask questions, then decide upon appropriate treatment. If an ENT cannot solve your problems with sinus believe consultation with an allergist is appropritate. Your difficulties with sinus problems should be treatable, the hardest part is the diagnosis. If you have any questions, or I may be of assistance, just post.

Scott

I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to each of you for the input regarding my sinus condition. I have scheduled an appointment with a highly regarded allergist next week. I have some MRI pictures and a write up that was done last spring, so perhaps that will help shed some light on arriving at a plan of attack. The anti-biotics and nasal spray are presently causing my present bout to improve, and hopefully a correct diagnosis will correct this re-occuring problem. That is the challenge. Will post next week following my appointment.
