I am new to this forum. Can someone please tell me the location of the canister purge solenoid on the 302 motor. I have been getting an intermittent check engine light for a while now. I gotten all the does codes cleared except the 565: canister purge solenoid code. I have purchased the part but can not find the location, so I need a little help here... In conjunction with all codes found, I have replaced the O2 sensor, TPS sensor, coolant temp sensor, EGR valve sensorand have cleared all those from the system using my scan tool. While clearing the codes, I just happened to notice my ignition coil arcing, so I will replace it tomorrow........ It's looks like the purge solenoid is behing the intake manifold
Have you located the cannister on the passenger side at the front down by the frame rail? Cannister purge valve is in the line leading to the cannister and looks like a small can with two ports facing the opposite direction and an electrical hookup at the bottom. Apply vacuum to the cannister side. If air flows through, replace the valve. To double check apply and maintain 16in-Hg of vacuum to the PCV side, apply vacuum to the b side (cannister) Air should pass through the valve. If not replace. That being said courtesy of Mr. Haynes manual, I'd try test one as most people are not going to have a gauge to read 16in-Hg accurately. I think I'd just replace it due to the code appearance.

I will try your suggestion.........I have located both cans but will try to trace vacuum lines from pass side can to the solenoid as you suggested..........I thought I might be being mislead by the tech at the ford who said it might be at the gas tank........Thanks
