Little help
) Questions are:
1. 3v to 2v is it worth it to spend the cash for the 05?
2. Lift: New suspension, do you dare lift it? How do dealers react? Void warranty? (probably a local question, but those with expierance pipe in please).
3. Plow's, who has a plow with the new coils? Better/worse?
4. Super cab vs. Crew. What is the price diff? I only need a SC but if the price is negligible why not have the more room? (SC, I have no kids, and a better turning radius would help if I plow with it)
5. Last time I looked at a SD they seem to have a wobble issue? Stearing would wonder? Is that gone?
6. When is the best time of year to buy too? I mean insentives wise?
7. GM has a waldoch suspension factory or dealer installed does ford have that?
8. What is the X plan?
9. Radio options? Chevy has BOSE, Dodge has infinaty, Ford????
10. This Truck will be pulling on weekends to the local 1/4 mile track, other than that it's back and forth to work. Any forseable problems?
11. 10 - 14 mpg is what I expect, but with the 4k I can get another toy to take on trips (specifically it will be an 87 GN, you know V6 to save gas
). 12. If I do lift it, what are the brands to have? I looked at the gallery, didn't see a lot of SC's lifted....
13. how does the V10 stack up to GM's 8.1 and Dodge's hemi?
Thanks for the help....
W
Frankly I do like the GM 8,1 over the V10. Just think it is a better built engine. My Son had a Dodge Hemi and had all kinds of valve lifter problems with it. It was a 04. Traded it off for a Chevy Crew. I also think the Radio Sysem is better on both the Dodge and the GM Trucks. I own a 99 Ford E450 Motor Home by Fleetwood and 2004 Chevy with the Bose. The Bose is a great sound system. The Factor Ford Sound System is not up to the Quality of the GM Bose or the Dodge Infinity. They may have gotten better since 99 however. Fuel mileage for what you would be doing probably 12-14 mpg. GM or Dodge won't do much better with their big blocks.
No wars please, just my feelings on the subject

Also what size tire and rims are those? I want my truck to look just like that, only SC instead of CC.
Dodge's ended up bending sway bars with spacers and that. How long have the 05's been running these lifts? I don't want a death wobble from bending something by buying this kit....

#1. Although I haven't driven the new V10 yet, if it were MY money I'd get the 05. Simply because I have the 3V 5.4L in my F-150 and am very impressed by it. I can just imagine what 62 more HP & almost 100 ft lb would do!
#11. Sounds about right.
#13. Stack up against them how? Durability, power, ease of maintenance etc. etc. ?
#2- #5 Search or ask in the Super Duty Forum.

#6 Some dealers will install name brand lifts but those dealers are kinda far and few. (At least round my parts....well I only have one
)#8 Search the New Buyer forum. That question is the most popular one asked up there.
#9. Bose kicks ***. Beats all the other guys hands down.
#10. Not if you maintain it.
#12. Again, check the Super Duty forum. There are quite a number of brands for the pre-05s. All I've seen for the 05's is the Skyjacker. Which, BTW, you can also get for the pre-05's to convert them to coils.
Welcome to FTE and have fun perusing the board!
Soft ride, big gas guzzling motor crappy problematic tranny, and much better sound system.
Get your self a HD3500 8.1L allison and superior sound system and have a good time. Hell every body knows GM makes better more durable trucks that Ford any way, right!
Oh damn I just saw that plowing is a need... well there you go! Stuck considering a Ford because you NEED 4x4 and you know that Dodge and Chevy can NOT make a 4by system that will stand the strain.. and not interested in a PSD SO
Sounds to me like you need to suffer the crappy Ford sound system and get thee an 2005 4X4, 4.30:1 LS rear, 17 inch rims (tires for 18s are no good for plowing), Crew Cab, long bed (turning radius is MUCH tighter now with front coils) 3valve 455ftlbs torque! 362HP V10 and either tranny... for plowing I recommend the manual as the 5R110 has issues right now (most problems are reported by folks plowing)
