Block heater

Sorry for the stupid question, but where is the world is the plug for the block heater. The owners manual says driver side lower grill. I have crawled all under the truck and cant seem to find it? Could they have left it off? Where does it plug into the engine at, I am hoping they have it tied up, but I still cant find it. Oh by the way, i have an 05,F250, diesel.

Any help would be appriciated

I thought that the block heater was stock on my 04 f250 6.0 but it is a option that cost about $125 when you but your truck but if you don't buy the option then it cost alot more from the dealer.

Hi Pittsburgh-05HD,

Welcome to the 6.0 forum and to FTE. Please take a moment to check out the Welcome sticky post at the top of the forum page. There are links to great threads and other info in there.

If you search on block heater in the 6.0 forum you'll find a lot of recent posts on the topic. It seems that while all '05 6.0 L PSDs are equipped with the block heater in the motor, many are not shipped with the cord installed.

So yes, depending upon which state you live in it may or may not have been shipped with the cord. The part number can be found in some of the posts and it is around $50+ from Ford. Some enterprising guys have gone to International and purchased the same cord from them for under $20.

My 05 350 6.0 PSD block heater cord comes out by the passenger side fog light. The truck was purchased in Canada (don't know if this makes any difference).

My 04 F350 has the plug near the right side fog light also although I had to really look to find it.

Took it to Ford. Found out the plug is an option on the o5's. the saleman couldn't believe it and said that was ridiculous. He ordered me one and is putting it in next week for me at no cost. How can I complain now. I am very impressed!

Pittsburgh,
I have an F-250 SD CC LWB Lariat. On the 05's they Do all come with the block heater itself installed in the motor but the Cord is a dealer request option. If you search for a thread entitled Block Heater Application, I posted what the Tech told me about how they install them after the engins is already in and then Narrate how I installed mine. Works great no issues.
