Here's a tip: I did mine because it was leaking, and the original booster was really stuck to the firewall! They used some sort of foam to seal it originally that practically glued it to the firewall after all these years. I tried prying from the firewall but it was no good. So I cut a piece of wood, about 1x1 square and about a foot long or so. After the brake pedal was disconnected from the rod, I put the piece of wood through the hole on the firewall from the inside (that's why the wood can only be about 1x1, so it fits through the hole) I stuck the other end against the brake pedal arm, then I stood on that brake pedal and it pushed it out. Worked like a charm!

If you're just replacing the booster, you should be able to unbolt and move the mc forward enough to get the booster out without having to disconnect any brake lines. One of mine was pretty stuck like nickmobile's, the other came off pretty easy. Good luck....

mine in my 84 came off with no problem, do watch the washers on the brake pedal though they are vey small, after i replaced booster and master cylinder and bled the brakes they worked as good any new car i have driven
