Oil change 'tip'

I was watching a show about 'RVs' the other day.
They had a tip about using an empty (plastic) liquor bottle cut down, for use as an oil funnel.

I've been doin' this all wrong!!!

I've been using an empty oil bottle cut down - for years.

I shoulda been using an empty liquor bottle!!!

So you are trying to tell us that you are well-lubed, and the engine was drunk...? That also goes to show what I always knew...campers and RV'ers are party animals.

Acutally, for the past couple of years I have been using a plastic 15 qt (IIRR) rubbermaid plastic short/square storage box.....I store my filter wrenches and filters in it. Then when its time to change oil, trans fluid, etc, I line the box with contractor grade plastic bag, drain the oil, tie up the bag and I'm done....and off to the recycle yard.

I just put my thumb over the opening in the oil bottle, move it to the fill hole, and remove my thumb. In she goes .

Most cheap liquors use a "plastic flask" in the smaller bottles, even some 1 ltr. and 750 ml bottles are plastic.

here is another good tip. Buy a funnel or two. I bought three funnels about 15 years ago, and I am still using them, hard to believe I know, I know.

Yeah, every time I buy a funnel, I lose it somewhere between the store and home. The one I bought for the tranny is a long skinny one with only one purpose, and I haven't lost that yet. So I just use the same cut down oil bottle I've used for the last 10 oil changes.

That or someone knocks it off the shelf and gets it dirty, or uses it to funnel kitty litter it seems like.
