Ice Not Nice!!

We got the ice at our house too!! We were able to stay at home with the aid of our generator for two days. Really got tired of hearing it run, but a whole lot better than going without it. I wired ours into the house, so it runs everything except the dryer and air conditioner. Storm damage was limited to yard decor, fences, etc. Could have been a whole lot worse.

May have to cut and paste this one. Gordo

The link worked. Some good pictures. Glad to hear there was not any severe damage.

Looks like a fun mess to clean up. We were lucky here. Nothing that bad.

Looks like a mess but at least you didn't get any major damage and had a generator.

I was sitting here reading this and heard a new round of crashing outside. Ice is thawing and more limbs are coming down. Went out and cleared the drive behind the old truck (new one is inside), and moved to a safer area I hope. There is no way to get away from all of it and still be on my property.

Not very dependable though. I walked out today and danged if the lift hadn't already collapsed on it. LOL

Yesterday was clean-up day!! 18 family and friends showed up with two trucks and a tractor with a scoop and grapple hooks. We had everything cleaned up (including raking up the small stuff) and hauled off in 1 hour and 30 minutes. I couldn't believe it!! If I had to do it myself, it would have been a three week project. I consider myself to be a very rich man to have family and friends willing to bust their butts like that on a cold and miserable day. If you have folks like this in your life, be sure to let them know what a wonderful gift they are!!

If you know how much wood and limbs that a single axle farm grain hauler can carry, we hauled off 8 loads of wood plus 5 loads on my 5 by 12 trailer with 2 foot sides. I'm sure glad the dump spot was only three miles away!!
