Ball Joints
So i went in for one of my free lifetime balance and rotation and the guy called me out in the bay just as soon as he put it up on the lift. there was about a half inch of play in one of the lower ball joints. He said if it was min thered be no way hed ever drive home it it was him. so i called up my friend and we trailered it home. thing is i have to drive back to school on sunday. so im wondering is if theres anyway i could do this job in 1 day, having never done it before. or should i take it into the garage and drive up to school in my '86 VW Golf Diesel (62 Hp).

I would just replace the ball joints...you can do it in a day. rent a ball joint press from the parts store or get the free loaner which ever it will make it easier. you just have to pull everything apart but its not hard.
