Choke adjustment???????

Could someone lend me there knowledge of Chokes? I replace my electric choke and had it adjusted nice for 50-40' weather and now it when It starts cold its fine......if I shut it off for ..say 30min and come out to start it the choke is now closed totally and wont start unless I physically adjust the kickdown to open the choke a notch or 2 could you please tell me whats going on.......I ran the experiment more then once....is my choke just out of adjustment and just closing on my warm engine. ???? thanks. if I rotate the choke towards the grill is makes it open faster right??

Choke adjustment???????

I would say it's out of adjustment. I don't know about your set-up, but most of the round black housings have "richer" and "leaner" with arrows showing the direction you turn it. Leaner would be less choke. When you get it warmed up, and it's still closed, turn the engine off, loosen the choke adjustment screws, and then while holding the throttle wide open, turn the housing till the choke plate is were you think it should be. It probably won't move unless you hold the throttle open. Then you can see how it acts on the next cold morning. It may need a little more adjustment and a couple of mornings to get it just right.

Choke adjustment???????

Thanks for the tip......I wonder why its only happening when its warmed up ......I hate that these chokes are such a bear to get straight. Makes me wish I was EFI'd on this engine.....then again, its nice not to have to deal with all the sensors that could go bad.
