E4od trans leak
I have a 92 plow truck(F250,E4od,4x4,5.8,84000 miles) that I bought at an auction for $1500. It sits most of the time and only use it around the farm and for plowing. I dont really know the history of the truck other that it came from a landscape company, so it probably had some hard use. I plowed yestersay and noticed a few drops of what i thought was oil in the snow. After a few hours of plowing, I noticed a few streaks of oil(nine or ten quarter size drops on the ground. I parked the truck, and havent had time to really look at it other than seeing fluid dripping from were the trans meets the engine. It has a reddish tint to it, but is almost amber in color. I didnt have time to check fluid levels, but did pull the trans dip stick and the fluid, which was previosly red, had changed colour, so I assume it got hot while plowing. I didnt notice any change in the shifting. The truck has always shifted hard going into drive, and an occational hard shift, or late downshift, but other than that seemed normal. Any info would be appreciated.
