My boss has a 2004 Superduty w/ V10 and auto. Just got done putting a XM Radio in and had everthing working like its supposed to and all of the sudden the truck radio wouldnt come on. Noticed also with the truck running none of my gauges were working and my power windows weren't either. Now this is were it gets really weird. Knowing it wouldnt do any good but I figured i would try it anyway I popped the hood and was going to unhook the battery and bingo the radio comes on and my windows will work. With the hood up all the little idiot lights in the instrument cluster flicker until you lower the hood about 6 inches and then they quit and the truck radio goes off. Whats really neat is you can actually roll the window down with the hood if somebody holds there finger on the switch. Now Im an experienced mechanic but its mostly on heavy equipment so I messed with it for just a little bit, but since its still under warranty i figure it would be better to just let the dealer mess with it, instead of burning my day up when i could be working on something else. Obviously the mercury switch for the hood light is what is causing the craziness and I know it shouldnt have hardly anything to do with all that other stuff. But I figure with hundreds of thousands of trucks like this on the road someone else has had problems similar to this, and they have been solved thats why im here. The dealer called and left a message and said I could pick up the truck and drive it but the parts wouldnt be in till monday so i didnt get a chance to ask him what was wrong with it. Any Ideas.
