Reason: Title Change
1 - Did the door lock '****' get screwed down too much? So that it will not even come back out the hole? I found that the actual point where the **** is tight, but still comes out of the hole is a slim margin, indeed.
2 - Can you open the door by pulling the internal door handle? If so, then the powerdoor actuator might be shot. (I am guessing you have power door locks). That or the mechanical mechanism that 'pops' the **** up is snagged, broken, or shot itself...
3 - Could be used as an excuss to actually have your GF use your drivers side door, with you in the seat of course...
Any way, pop the interior panel off and check it out. Just don't bust too many clips getting the panel off.
I've got a similar problem with 90 Bronco. The drivers side switch does nothing. The passenger side switch will lock both doors but does not unlock either door and makes no sound when I try it. I've tried to use a jumper across the wires on the drivers side and I get an arc (like direct short) when I goes across any of the four pins. If it were a short why would the passenger side run them down but not up. I'm stumped.
