regulator

hello, i just got back home from getting my battery and alternator checked at advanced auto. the alternator is bad, and the guy working there recommended i pick up a new regulator too. the regulator was replaced earlier this year. should i get a new regulator?

Not required, but is good insurance. Also make sure your battery has a good charge on it , or it can fry your new alt.

and make sure to always unhook the neg cable first and attach it last when removing cables so you don't burn the diodes in the new alt kragen sells rebuilts for 17.99 at partsamerica.com

I replaced my alt a while back. It worked great but made a horrible noise. I checked it out and found acid spewing out the battery, after a quick voltage check found it cranking out 17 volts. I got a new regulator and it fixed the hi volt problem, and got another alternator.... what a POS. I guess I'm saying if possible check the voltage output after you replace the alt, just to be sure the reg is ok.
