I have an 02 XLT that the door ajar light stayed on but did not have problems of them locking and unlocking. Any way I fixed the light as I assumed it was the drivers door switch, the most used, and sprayed in the lock area with WD 40. I opened and closed the door several times and really sprayed the lock area good. This fixed my light problem as I was told that the door switches have a tendency to stick. By the way a ford tech reccomended this fix. Hope it helps. Bill

Ditto the WD-40 deal w/ the door latch. I've heard Ford has a reputation for fussy door switches. It doesn't have to be the drivers switch only, either. It was the passenger's on mine, even though that's hardly ever used. Mostly in hot weather, it would say the door wasn't closed until I hit the latch w/ the lube and opened/ closed the door a few times. Now it's all good.
