old spark plug gap wrong

I have a 01 f150 4.6l. Well it felt like i had a loss in power and my fuel mileage has gone down the drain.. so I figured it was time to replace my plugs. Well I only got the first 4 done on the passenger side due to the project taking a lil longer then i thought and having to go to work. but each of the spark plugs i pulled out were gapped at .040 how much of a difference is that going to make from the .052-.056 that it should be. it has a rough idle too.. i cleaned my iac but not my throttle body yet... i am guessing that my problem is with the gap but i guess i will just have to finish it up tomorrow and see how it feels. i also replaced my fuel filter and my pvc valve. i have a cold air intake and a throttle body spacer and a flow master cat back.. on a lucky tank of gas i get about 13.3 mpg. what should i be getting but i do have a 6 inch lift and 35's.

Thanx

Welcome to the forum.

Gas mileage, is it a 2wd or 4x4?

Sounds odd unless thay have been replaced before and gapped wrong.
