I am about to buy a b2 and i need some help. Is not running because it has no oil preassure. The guy im buying it from told me it needed a new oil pump. Is there anything else that would cause this? Also where exactly is the "oil pump" located and how hard will it be to change. Oh and by the way it says im supposed to say hey cus im new here. I already own a 96 full size bronco and about a week away from my B2 purchase so please help me.
Oil pump is inside the oil pan. It seems like someone said he managed to replace an oil pump without pulling the engine all the way out of the vehicle, but, it's generally said that, to get the oil pan off (and therefore access the oil pump), you need to pull the engine out.
As for possible causes of a no start -- you bet there are other possible reasons it won't start. No oil pressure is actually a little lower on my list. 1st things I think of with a no start are fuel delivery and ignition (in particular TFI module).

if you follow what the haynes repair maunual says you are supposed to be able to get the pan off without removing the engine. however i have personaly tried it with no such luck im guessing the suspention really has to hang and without the use of better equip it seems rather impossible, my personal opinion is the haynes repair manual sucks
Nobody said it did not start. What was said was "Is not running because it has no oil pressure.". This does not even imply "Wont Start".
BigBroncoGuy17, If the pump is indeed the cause of the "No oil pressure" condition, then major damage has been done to the bearings cam, crank and other oil protected parts whether it was run for 1 minute or 20 minutes to determine the cause of the condition.
This condition could also be caused by:
Bad main and or rod bearings.
Bad cam bearings.
No or low oil.
Plugged oil galleys.
Broken oil pump shaft.
Clogged or bad oil pump pickup.
Other stuff I have forgotten.......anybody want to chip in?
The problem could be a simple as a bad gauge or sending unit.
The best thing to do is fire the thing up for a second or two. Does it sound like a diesel? If it does, plan on a rebuild or engine swap.
If it sounds normal then get a "real" oil guage on it and see where you are at.
Really, I hope your not spending more then a couple of hundred on this Bronco II
