84 302 Exhaust

I have a '84 F150 with a 302 and a AOD in it. The truck has 220k on it and now the exhaust from the cat back is falling apart. Would upgrading it to a 2.5 pipe and a low restrictive muffler do that much for it. Is it worth the $225 for the upgrade? I can get the current setup replaced for $100 because it has a lifetime warranty from the previous installer. Though that only covers the muffler, not the pipe, hence the $100.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to FTE

I replaced the rusted out muffler and clogged cat with a new stock system on my '83 with 302. It made a WORLD of difference!

Find a good Exhaust guy. I had custome bent exhaust (Duals out the side) 2 1/2" done for $165.00, that was from the headers back. I've went back to the same guy for every truck I've owned.:-)

Thats my story, and I'm stickin to it.
