Snap!!!!!!!

I'm kinda hooped. I live in a place that is bitterly cold in the winter and gets lots of snow= lots of salt on roads. When I was unlocking my hubs the other day (because I needed 4 low just to get out of my driveway), I noticed my passenger side frame rail is cracked. Partly due to corrosion and the stress of the corrosion caused a crack. I spoke to ford and they said they could weld in a plate. I like to wheel and so I'm just looking for some feedback. I considered ghost ridding my truck off a cliff and getting a knew one, but I'm kind of attached to the old girl. Thanks for the reply.

go for the cliff

chance are that the rest of the frame is just as bad. on my 90 f250 i stoped driving it because one day while working on something else i saw light where there was supposed to be frame. have a look around the rear spring hangers and around the trans cross member, also the front rd support, and the power steering box. probably bad news. i can't part with my 90 because it works so damm good. but for the past 2yrs it only sat in the back yard rotting away. frames around here a pricy and time just isnt there. proper frame repair should be costly. just welding a patch over the bad area will cause stress elsewhere and just break the frame again. if you were really inlove with the old girl buy a southern frame or have one made $$$. mor than likely park her or trade her..
just my 2 cents, sorry for your loss.

as previously stated, i would by a pos southern truck like yours that doesnt run and what not, so it would be cheap. then just start swappin parts. then when alls said and done youll have left over spare parts for when you break stuff wheeling
