I was out looking at a new F-350 6.0 and the salesman told me that the engine will adjust to up to 2 different drivers and their driving styles. I thought this sounded a little strange. He said the 7.3 does the same thing. Was he just blowing smoke up my skirt or has anyone ever actually heard of such a thing?
Well the computer does learn your driving style over time and makes adjustments to optimize power, shifting patterns, economy etc etc etc. I don't think its anything you would ever realize is going on though. I think this is pretty standard on every vehicle on the road these days. Not really a selling point as far as I am concerned.
It came up when I mentioned how much power it seemed to have. I told him that it had more power than mine did. He said that it was probably because I don't drive my truck like most people test drive and the computer in the new truck adjusted to the agressive nature of the test driver resulting in more power off the line.
My father and I both have 2003 Ram Hemi 1500's and he usually it more light on the peddle and his trans shifts smoother, I'm more agressive in my truck and it does have firmer shifts and can smoke the tires easier.
BTW, I have a Ram but I'm visiting this wonderful site cause I will be ordering an F250 soon
