Question Any problems with a braised intake?

I'm trying to put together a 390 for my 66 F100, but the problems never end! When I cleaned-up my 4bbl intake manifold; I found it to be braised right under the firing order casting. It looks to be a good weld--no bubbles or such--how risky is it to use this? Thanks, Brett

Not too risky. If it's done correctly theres nothing to worry about. If you want a new one DSC has 'em for $50.

Although I've never tried this, you could probably seal it up and fill it up with water or light oil, and check for leaks. This will tell you if its sealed up. Just an idea.

www.dscmotorsport.com. Dennis is a real nice guy good prices. I would lean towards not using it if I didn't know who brazed it and how they did it. Iron is very difficult to weld or braze especially on something as intricate as an intake manifold. I won't get into the science of it, but if the intake was backyard brazed as a quick fix it could easily crack if it is stressed when you tighten it down. If you're gonna use it, atleast needle gun on around the brazed area to relieve some of the stress. Good luck
