2003 Explorer/Sporttrac Alignment

2003 Explorer/Sporttrac Alignment
I own both a 2003 Explorer and a 2003 Sporttrac with about 20,000 miles each. After noticing some tire wear I took the vehicles to a Goodyear store for alignment. In both cases I was told that the vehicles could not be properly aligned without installing a kit to allow the camber to be properly set. Is this a known problem with these vehciles? If so, what is Ford doing about it?
