for everyone who remembers i was talking about putting a supercab body on my 78 stepside 4x4. i finally completed the project and have a few pics posted now. hope everyone likes them.
thanks guys for the good words. well matt there was a lot involved some was thought about beforehand and some was totally unexpected. i had to split the frame on the 4x4 and add 23 inches to it for starters. i also put in an extra crossmember, added to the fuel and brake lines and removed the rear portion of the wiring harness. to make all this easier i removed the bed. this was the first weekend of work on this project. the next weekend was tough. i had help lined up but no one showed!!! my wife who was 4 months pregnant was my only help!!! my goal was to tear down both trucks and put the one back together and drive it out of the shop in 2 days. needless to say that did'nt happen. it was one little problem after another!!! from changing steering columns to building new rear cab mount perches. had to cut the floorpan for the transfercase shifter. the cab sits higher than normal due to differences in the frames(had to fabricate different size mounts from front to back) so i also had to make blocks for the rear of the bed to get the same angle on it as the cab. we also put the engine from the super cab back in the 4x4 where it originally came from. it took all week working on it after i clocked out from my regular job to finish it. we pulled it out the day after christmas and loaded up the family and headed out to WV from SC without testing it out!!! yeah i am looney!!!
