i was reading about the diablo microtuner and they said for 85 and 100hp selections not to tow with, why is this?will it damage anything? and is it worth it?
what do you guys have and what do you reccomend

 

will most likely run to hot pyro-wise. It is a matter of min. to change the tunes and if you don't want to wait that long, get a flip chip.

I have a Predator that I am no longer running because my temps were running high. I tried a lot of different air flow mods(check my gallery for a list), but just couldn't run on the 85 or 100hp tunes, and that wasn't towing. I did tow a 9000lb 5th wheel on the 60hp tunes and did OK.

A flip chip can adjust the tune on the fly with a multi position toggle switch or rotary switch. I just went to a Jody Tipton custom 6 position switch and am very happy w/ it. 5 different hp tunes + stock setting. The hottest I run on the 140hp tune is 1350. I was running that by 55mph on the 100hp Predator tune.

Going from tune to tune w/ the Predator often took more than a matter of minutes for me. They are very finicky and sensitive to ANY power fluctuations. I had to unplug my trans temp gauge to get my truck to take the tune.

A lot of people are running the Predator w/ no problems. I think a lot has to do w/ which version of code your truck has. Some work better than others.
If you don't need the option of rapidly switching between tunes, then a programmer is not a bad way to go. You also get some good tools w/ it. You can use the Predator to clear/check trouble codes.

You'll see this alot, but before you do any hp tuning, make sure you have a EGT gauge.

I already have a code reader, so I'll be putting my Predator up for sale. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.
